The Microgaming Health & Care Trust

  • May 28, 2014

The Microgaming Health & Care Trust will provide the life-saving electronic Automated External Defibrillator (AED) deices to each member of the Island of Man Golf Union. They will give them as a gift and instruct the personnel, all for free of course.

The idea of organizing a project that would include supplying of such important equipment to eight golf clubs on the island initially belongs to the legend of golf Bernard Gallacher. The reason why the Bernard Gallacher Defibrillator Campaign started was in the sudden cardiac attack that he experienced when playing in the golf club in August last year. After this case it took Bernard a really long time to make a full recovery and he wanted to make sure that nothing like this would ever happen again with anyone in the future.

Bernard Gallacher thinks that every golf club needs to have one or more defibrillator till the end of year 2014. Inspired by his idea the Microgaming Health & Care Trust decided to step in and provide all the help possible. And Roy Moore who is the President of the Isle of Man Golf Union said on the occasion that he was very inspired after hearing Bernard Gallacher’s story. He said that this situation let them realize at the Union the importance of having a defibrillator in each club. And they were incredibly thankful to the Microgaming Health & Care Trust for their support provided to this project. So recently the staff members from golf clubs in Mount Murray, Castletown, King Edward (Onchan), Ramsey, Peel, Port St. Mary and Rowany each of which has a defibrillator were on special AED training courses.
